IFLA works to deliver copyright reforms at the global, regional and national levels to give libraries clear and enforceable legal rights to carry out their missions, as well as to promote the adoption of open practices in knowledge production and sharing.

This work is essential in order to ensure that knowledge to be accessible by all, giving everyone the possibility to enjoy their rights to access to information, to cultural participation, and to benefit from science.

In particular, we promote action at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in order to provide a catalyst for national copyright reforms and enable cooperation across borders.

We encourage the creation and sharing of new content with open licenses, through support for open access, open science, and open educational resources, as well as OpenGLAM practices.

In addition, we engage with our Members, nationally and regionally, to provide support and materials to strengthen advocacy in favour of reforms.
