IFLA’s offer of professional development increases the opportunities for all librarians to take their knowledge to a higher level. The expert volunteers in the Professional Units bring their unique perspectives to professional development activities, infusing them with a truly international perspective.

Activities include webinars and online meetings, giving the chance to learn more about a topic and to contribute to engaging discussions or question and answer sessions. Some Professional Units provide physical seminars or hold meetings before IFLA’s World Library and Information Congress. These allow deeper investigation on a topic of global interest.

IFLA’s many publications, including guidelines, provide avenues for professional development, particularly assisting and guiding you in how to put tools into practice. Professional development can enhance a specific area of your work or assist your personal development with activities such as coaching.

Professional development activities are announced through the website and avenues such as IFLA-L.
