The wait is nearly over!  Results from the world’s first-ever global discussion across the library community will be revealed on Monday 19 March 2018 when IFLA’s Global Vision Report is launched during the IFLA President’s Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.

Never before have so many librarians from every continent and almost every country in the world produced such a ground-breaking collection of ideas to connect and unite each other. Library leaders, outstanding experts, young professionals and librarians from multiple generations have had their say, making this a unique and hugely influential document that will shape the library field’s future.

Of course, Global Vision does not stop here! The launch of the Global Vision Report kicks-off the next exciting, developmental stage in the Global Vision journey. This journey includes six regional workshops throughout March – July 2018 as well as a planned event during IFLA’s World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

IFLA Secretary General, Gerald Leitner said:

“In 2017 the library community came together to create a Global Vision and those ideas and views make up this unique roadmap to unite the library field. In 2018 we are asking the library world to develop these ideas into action. The IFLA Global Vision Discussion continues!”

The next stage in the Global Vision discussion promises to be even more thrilling as we begin planning what a united library field looks like and it’s never too late to get involved!
