Libraries and the Sustainable Development Goals: A Storytelling Manua

“Storytelling in a library context means capturing the initial spark of inspiration, then allowing that spark to guide you. Together we surface new ideas, build relationships, and deliver sustained community engagement.”  Matt Finch

This practical guide was designed to help librarians and library advocates in telling compelling stories about library activities, projects and programmes, showing their impact on communities and people’s lives.

Through this manual, and a new online submission form just launched, we aim to facilitate the submission of stories to be published in the IFLA Library Map of the World (LMW) that demonstrate the contribution of libraries in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

IFLA invites librarians and library advocates from all countries to submit their stories through the LMW SDG Stories platform. The LMW team is available to support you in the process of preparation and submission of your SDG story. Please do not hesitate to contact them if you have any questions: librarymap@ifla.org

Let’s make it possible to have more stories online, and to build a stronger case for libraries that will support our collective library advocacy efforts around the world!
