The first regional meeting of Arab parliamentary libraries was convened at the Arab Institute for Parliamentary Training and Legislative Studies in Beirut, Lebanon, Jan. 19-20 2012, with the technical support of USAID-funded and State University of New York/Center for International Development-implemented legislative strengthening program in Lebanon. During this two-day event, attended by librarians and research staff from the parliaments of Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Tunisia and the UAE, participants discussed services offered by their libraries and research services, opportunities for networking and collaboration, and ways to improve library and research services provided to the Members and staff of their respective parliaments.
