A Technology Petting Zoo: High Tech for Access

When

19 August 2013

Where

Singapore, Central Public Library, National Library Board (10 minutes on foot from the conference centre)

Description

This Session will focus on access technologies that enable libraries to offer a higher quality of life to these who are afflicted with physical, mental or cognitive disabilities and, therefore, are unable to access current library services.

The program will start with presentations to introduce access technology products, software and devices. Participants will then visit a "Technology Petting Zoo," where people (companies, industries, organizations, libraries, etc.) can use a hands-on approach to explore what might be involved if they were interested in or in need of acquiring such technology for their establishment.

Toward the end of the session there will be time for discussion among the participants about how we may best promote access technologies in the near future.
