The “Digital Image Database” includes two parts: one is the scanned images of NCL’s rare books collection; the other is the NCL’s international collaborations of the digitalization project of Chinese rare books.

For the former one, over 10,000 titles of rare books published before 1795 were digitized and made available to the public through the library’s Digital Images Database.

Regarding the international digitalization project, since 2005, NCL has been cooperated with Genealogical Society of Utah., Library of Congress of the United States, Library of the University of Washington, Library of the University of California Berkeley, Library of the University of Toronto, Bibliothèque nationale de France, and Library of the University British Columbia.

Nearly 2,870,000 images, drawn from the above libraries’ important rare Chinese books have been digitized and incorporated into the digital images database.
