On behalf of the IFLA’s Literacy and Reading, Public Libraries, Metropolitan Libraries and Libraries for Children’s and Young Adults Professional Units, it is with disappointed hearts (and logical heads) that we announce the IFLA Reading Journeys event in Oxford, UK in August 2020 will not proceed.

There are many reasons why we needed to ‘be brave’ and act now. As an international conference, these include financial aspects and the unknown of who will be able to attend either as a delegate or a speaker. Each day we receive news of new travel bans and the spread of COVID-19 which will peak at different times in various counties/continents. We wanted also to minimise the personal financial impact to potential delegates.

Given the incredible interest in our program we are hopeful that we may be able to re-schedule for 2021. We will keep you informed.

In the interim, keep well and keep safe.
